Free Disaster Preparedness Training Starts This Month

Do you know what to do if a tornado is approaching your home? Are you interested in learning how local emergency response agencies work together in local disasters?
The Caddo-Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness will be offering a free twenty hour Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course at the Bossier Emergency Operations Center starting January 17, 2012 and running for three additional Tuesday nights from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age and all training materials including a light rescue bag is offered free of charge. The training will take place at the Bossier Emergency Operations Center (B-EOC) at 1511 Doctors Drive in Bossier City.
Training includes first aid, light rescue, proper use of a residential fire extinguisher and other individual and family emergency preparedness skills all taught by senior Bossier City Fire Department or other first responder agency academy instructors.
CERT graduates also receive a training certificate from the Caddo-Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness reflecting completion of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and FEMA sponsored 20 hour CERT training course.
